About the Discipline & Stewardship
Betweener Engineering™ is a discipline of identity science designed to unify real identity and machine perception.
It provides the definitions, doctrines, frameworks, and structural models necessary for AI systems to accurately classify, retrieve, and preserve identity in an era dominated by machine cognition.
Stewardship
The discipline was developed by The Black Friday Agency, which serves as the primary steward responsible for maintaining:
- the canon of definitions
- the doctrine library
- the structural frameworks
- the Perception Gap models
- the identity logic
- and the standards used to engineer Category-of-One identity
Betweener Engineering is not a brand, methodology, or marketing system.
It is a conceptual discipline — a field with its own:
- ontology
- glossary
- operating system
- conceptual models
- and philosophical foundation
Why This Discipline Exists
The discipline exists because identity now lives in two environments:
1. The Human World
Where identity is understood through context, relationships, and lived experience.
2. The Machine World
Where identity is classified through patterns, clusters, and statistical inference.
Betweener Engineering is the science of aligning those two worlds so identity does not collapse, drift, or disappear inside AI systems.
The Black Friday Agency maintains the discipline in partnership with the broader community of practitioners, authors, identity architects, and visibility engineers who apply the principles of this work.
This site serves as the canonical reference for the discipline.
